Where did Valentine's Day come from? What is the story behind Valentine's Day? Is it all about a Catholic saint? Is it another Pagan holiday?
St Valentine's Day is the Eve of Lupercalia, the Pagan Roman festival of fertility.
The Lupercalia was one of the most ancient Roman festivals, which was celebrated every year in honour of Lupercus, the god of fertility. The festival was held on the 15th of February in the Lupercal, where Romulus and Remus were said to have been nurtured by the she-wolf; the place contained an altar and a grove sacred to the god Lupercus. The Pagans offered sacrifices of goats and dogs which were animals known to have strong sexual instinct, so these were 'appropriate' sacrifices for Lupercus.
After they slaughtered the bloody, dead goats and dogs, the young men would run through the streets naked, and they would whip women with these animal corpses to promote fertility. Many women would line up waiting to be struck with these dead animals, believing that this will help their pregnancy have an easy delivery, and that this would help the barren become pregnant. This is what people really did until 496 A.D.
They would also have a "Love Lottery" ritual during Lupercalia. The young girls would put their names in a jar and then the boys would draw the names from the jar. Through the love lottery, a man won a woman's companionship and sexual pleasuring until the next year's drawing. Lupercalia, aka Valentine's Day has nothing to do with Christianity, nor a saint, but Pagan sex rituals and fertility rites.
It was Pope Gelasius who in 496 A.D. changed Lupercalia to St. Valentine's day. {The word Valentine comes from the latin word valentinus, a name derived from Valens, meaning: To be Mighty "strong".}
Lupercalia was simply given a christian sounding name and adopted into the "universal" Catholic Church. This was done to make it easy on the pagan converts who were coming into Catholicism. These pagans were unwilling to give up their satanic rituals, so instead of putting an halt to the growing paganism of the church, the Romans took the approach of "Blend and incorporate". Catholicism is Paganism disguised as Christianity.
Here is the story of the goddess of fertility, aka Aphrodite, Venus, etc and her son Cupid.
Lupercalia is the feast honoring Lupercus, the mighty wolf hunter of Rome. This celebration also included worship of the goddess of fertility, Venus. In Roman mythology this is the goddess of fertility and sexual immorality. She had a son called Cupid. Cupid was said to have attended to her and was given power to cause love to begin and to cease.
It is no coincidence that Nimrod (Noah's evil grandson who built the tower of Babel) is known as "the mighty hunter" (Genesis 10:8-9). Nimrod was the original Lupercus. Not only was Nimrod the ruler of Babel, but he was also the high priest of a satanic occult. When Nimrod finally died, the Babylonian mystery religion continued on through his wife, Queen Semiramis. Upon Nimrod's death, she called him the Sun god and demanded that he would be worshipped. In various cultures he became known as Baal, the Great Life Giver, the god of fire, Baalim, Bel, and Molech.
Later when Queen Semiramis gave birth to another son after Nimrod was killed, she claimed that he was Nimrod reborn. She called him Nimrod Tammuz. She claimed that he was the promised seed of God (Genesis 3:15), the savior. Semiramis became the mediator between man and this "god", you had to pray through her to reach him. So Nimrod was deified as the god of the sun. Queen Semiramis became the Queen of Heaven, the goddess of the moon and fertility; and Nimrod Tammuz became the savior in this satanic Babylonian religion.
Another name for Nimrod Tammuz was Cupid, which means Desire. Queen Semaramis lusted after her son, and soon they were married. As Nimrod Tammuz grew, the child "god" became the object of lust to many women. This cupid provoked so many women to jealousy that the idol of Tammuz was called the Idol "image" of Jealousy (Ezekiel 8:5,,8:14). In the Babylonian tongue the word heart was pronounced "Bal." In the depictions of Tammuz the heart shaped fruit of Persea was often found in his hand. Thus Tammuz became known as the god of the heart.
Pope Gelasius dubbed Lupercalius as a Christianized "St.Valentine's Day" and disguised this evil, sexual, pagan festival as a holiday. It has absolutely nothing to do with a dead saint.
If you are a Catholic, then you might be familiar with Saint Brigit. She is actually a goddess that Irish Pagans worshipped and called "Brigit." She is dubbed as a Catholic saint of smithcraft, poetry, and healing.
Catholics might also be familiar with "Candle Mass" in which they celebrate the end of Virgin Mary's purification. Candle Mass is actually the Babylonian festival of Oimbolc. It has everything to do with Rome's Lupercalia pagan festival which celebrates mid-winter and the return of the sun (sun god). It was adopted by the Catholic Church and they simply changed the name.
Changing the name of a pagan ritual does not mean it has stopped being pagan. A dog called by another name is still a dog. God asks us what concord (agreement) has Christ with Belial (Baal)? or What agreement hath the temple of God with idols? ( 2 Corinthians 15-16). The answer is NONE! God is a jealous God and he is Holy. He will not be mixed with devils. Unfortunately, many would rather keep this babylonian tradition rather than to keep the simple commandments of God. Jesus rebuked the pharisees who kept the traditions over the commandments and called them hypocrites. He said they worshipped him in vain (Mark 7:6-9).
It is about time we examined these customs of the pagans now falsely labeled "Christian." We need to be separate from the world and we need to cease from this Roman and Babylonian filth! Let us get back on track with God and stay on the straight and narrow path! Let's stop teaching our children these pagan customs in honor of Baal the sun god (the real St. Valentine) and teach them what the Bible really says!
"And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." 2 Corinthians 6:15-18
